Joystiq preview

Today Joystiq posted an in-depth preview of L.A. Noire that describes the demo of the game that a Rockstar representative showed them. Here's the final paragraph:

"LA Noire is, as my colleague Andrew Yoon put it, a "big-budget, M-rated Phoenix Wright." It's a police simulation of the highest caliber and, for a person who may be out of love with the Rockstar formula, Team Bondi's LA Noire offers the prospect of an open-world game for those of us who don't want to play the antihero."

The Map





[1] L.A. Noire developers have confirmed that the L.A. Noire map is 8 square miles. It takes 30 minutes to drive from the top to the bottom of the map. More info will be leaked in mid-April. Pictures will be sent to (FutureRockstarGames) next week.

"Investigation and Interrogation"

March 9th 2011 (Update) - Today the 2nd L.A. Noire gameplay video came out "Investigation and Interrogation". The video shows different scenes of investigating a crime scene and scouring for clues. It also shows interrogation scenes explaining truth, doubt, and lies.

The Naked City trailer

Rockstar has just released a short trailer for The Naked City, a separate case that's included with pre-orders made at GameStop, but will be available for purchase sometime after release, along with all other pre-order content according to Rockstar.

Gaming Press Tries Out Homicide Demo!

On March 1st 2011, gaming press tried out L.A. Noire for the first time. Team Bondi released a private Homicide Demo for the top game media. All of the press including Game Informer, Gamespot, G4, GamesRader, and NowGamer took part in the first look.

Game Informer said that if you are having trouble finding a clue, your partner will point things out for you. They also said that it is important to scour for clues, any missing clues can result in limited interrogation sequences.

G4 said that they were very happy with the shape-ups on the games preformance and graphic showing from when it was first teased. How could May 17th be so far away.

Gameplay Series

Rockstar will be releasing a series of gameplay videos in the near future.



First in the series is “Orientation”, an overview of the game’s core mechanics from searching for clues, to the fundamentals of witness interrogation, and classic action including brawling and shootouts.



The second video in the series will be released on Wednesday at 12pm EST (5pm UK GMT).

Release date announced

After a "leaked" version of a new trailer, which showed a release date, appeared on the web a few days ago, Take-Two has confirmed that the release date for L.A. Noire will be May 17 for North America and May 20 for Europe.

All the L.A. Noire news so far

L.A. Noire is scheduled to be released on May 17, 2011. But Rockstar isn't really forthcoming with new information. Here's most of the info that's available so far.


Basic info:

  • L.A. Noire is an open-world game.
  • It will be released on both PS3 and Xbox 360.
  • You will play as an LAPD detective called Cole Phelps.
  • The story line will revolve around Phelps trying to solve a series of gruesome murders.
  • Each succesfully solved case propells Phelps higher up the ladder of LAPD.
  • The game bases it's story on actual events.
  • You can travel to locations instantly by asking your partner to drive.
  • There are eight square miles of city and over 140 interiors for you to visit.
  • Side missions will take the form of "unassigned cases" and "crime in progress".
