Captain is a rank in the Los Angeles Police Department. It is senior in rank to Lieutenant, Sergeant, Detective, and Police Officer.
Captains are responsible for the administration of the Departments in the LAPD, and also designate detectives for the investigation of the crimes in the concerned department.
