Hollywood is a large neighborhood in Los Angeles and a major location in L.A. Noire. During the timeline that the game is set, Hollywood was in the midst of its "golden era" as a major setting for the movie industry, attracting movie producers and aspiring actors from the all over world. It was also the stage for some of the most notorious crimes in the 1940s, crimes that Detective Cole Phelps tries to solve while working for the LAPD. Hollywood is located north of the Wilshire District and is the northwesternmost point on the game map.

The Hollywoodland Sign overlooks the neighborhood. In 1947 the sign spelled out "Hollywoodland" as it was originally a promotion for a planned community in the 1920s. In 1949, two years after the events of L.A. Noire, the word "land" was removed from the sign. In 1978, the original sign was replaced with a new sign.
