Juan became part of Ernesto Juarez's reefer ring by storing and guarding the reefer that Ernesto brought in from Tijuana, Mexico. Juan later convinced his cousin, Jorge, to take part by allowing Ernesto access to the Parnell's Soup Co. Factory to help with the distrubtion. Since the reefer shipments were very large, Juan also sold some of it on the streets. A most prominent customer was Freddie Calhoun.
Events of L.A. Noire
Freddie gave a tip to the LAPD's Vice Department that would expose the reefer ring by informing Detectives Cole Phelps and Roy Earle of Juan's involvement. As they went to his house to investigate, Juan realized they arrived to arrest him, so he opened fire on them with his Thompson M1. However, Phelps was able to sneak into the house around the back, taking Juan by surprise and gunned him down.
