"Misunderstanding" is a Homicide street crime case in L.A. Noire.


A mugger with a gun is arguing with another man who is Chinese and speaking Cantonese. Before Phelps arrives he shoots and kills the man and makes a break for it. Phelps stops for a quick check of pulse, then pursues the suspect.

Dispatch Call Script

Dispatch: KGPL to all units, citizen reports man with a gun, Union and Rockwood Street. Union and Rockwood Street, unit to handle, Code Two, identify.

Cole Phelps: 11K, go ahead.

Dispatch: 11 King, citizen reports man with a gun at the intersection of Union Avenue and Rockwood Street. 11 King, Code Two.


Phelps chases after him, after a short time Phelps will have a clear line of sight to shoot and kill the man, ending the case. The chase may also continue into a parking garage, where a firefight erupts between the gunman and the detectives.

However, it is possible to fire a warning shot at the mugger, giving Phelps the chance to arrest him. To do so, after going across the road where the garbage truck comes in from the right, and the suspect is rushing through the alley alongside the house that leads to the parking garage, fire a shot that hits him. He'll slow down, giving you the opportunity to keep your sight on him long enough to fire a warning shot, which will make him surrender.
